Two new high definition projection television models from Philips Electronics

Date: August 6, 2004

Philips’ new models are the 55-inch 55PP9527 and 46-inch 46PP9527 digital widescreen, high-definition rear-projection televisions. Both models incorporate Philip’s award-winning Pixel Plus technology to give, in Philips’ opinion, its customers the “best seat in the house” experience. Some of the televisions’ best-in-class features include unparalleled picture quality, ease of use, exceptional sound quality and future connectivity.

By almost tripling the number of lines and pixels per line and enhancing the clarity of each pixel through electronic circuitry, Pixel Plus technology provides better detail, texture and resolution for even non-high definition sources than other manufacturers’ rear-projection televisions.

Using its proprietary circuitry, Philips Active Control Plus, the new rear-projection TVs display images at 100 times per second, twice that of standard televisions and also removes the line vibration apparent in vertical details on curved and angled surfaces.

Philips has also incorporated into its new rear-projection HD television models its APAC (Automatic Phosphor Aging Compression) system to combat image “burn-in” left by video games, stationary black bars, etc. APAC automatically shifts the television image in minute increments to “blur” the image retention and helps to prevent burn-in.

Also featured in these new rear-projections HDTVs are side-by-side capable, two-tuner PIPs that allow you to watch two programs side-by-side.
