September 27, 2004 - More evidence of the widespread adoption of flat panel televisions; this time from industry publication, Dealerscope: "Consumers are beginning to realize that flat panels aren't just for celebrities, athletes and CEOs any longer—at least, not the most inexpensive flat panels. And retailers will soon have access to even more inexpensive flat-panel products that will entice consumers to expectantly enter their stores."

September 23, 2004 - Analog TVs get a reprieve as Broadcasters beat back a proposal that would have required them to give up their current analog channels by 2009 as their allies on the Senate Commerce Committee won approval Wednesday for a weaker proposal. Read more at Reuters.

CNET reports that two European groups came a step closer to having television on their mobile phones on Friday when they announced plans to push forward with consumer trials and establish a standard for the technology. September 8, 2004 - Another reason to get satellite... DirecTV announced it will launch four new satellites, expanding its bandwidth so it can offer high-definition programming and interactive services. Boeing will build the satellites, with the first two set to launch in 2005. Details at DirecTV.

September 6, 2004 - 65-inch plasma screen tv coming soon to a Circuit City near you! Well, maybe... Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. (a.k.a. Panasonic) said on Monday it will launch the world's largest plasma display television, with a screen measuring 65-inches diagonally, on Oct 1 in Japan. No news yet on a global launch but the Japanese version is expected to cost 2.08 million yen ($18,810). Read about it at The Financial Express.
